The region of West Arthur is located in the south-west of Western Australia, approximately 250km from the state capital, Perth. It covers an area of approximately 1,714 square kilometers and has a population of around 1,000 people.
The major town in the region is Darkan, which is located on the intersection of the Arthur River and the South Western Highway. Darkan has a primary school, a general store, a post office, and a pub.
The region is primarily agricultural, with wheat and sheep farming being the main industries. Other industries in the region include dairy farming, beef farming, and timber production.
